A happy retirement to Dave Lynn

Trafalgar Street Engraving, now sadly closed

formerly owner of Trafalgar House Engraving, Trafalgar Street

By Jackie Fuller, North Laine resident

It’s very sad to see yet another long established specialist North Laine shop closing its doors for the last time. Dave Lynn (not to be confused with the celebrated local drag artist of the same name) ran Trafalgar Street Engraving at No 4 Trafalgar Street for more than 30 years but has now closed the shop for the last time to take a well-earned retirement.

He engraved anything

Dave would engrave anything for you. He did a lot of work for the Council, for example engraving dedication plaques to put on memorial benches (there are two examples of his work in Pelham Square). He did a lot of private work too and people came long distances to get something special engraved by Dave - anything from sports cups to special anniversary champagne flutes, from dog tags to signs.

Helpful and friendly

Dave was always gentle, helpful and friendly and he didn’t overcharge either.

Supported the NLCA

He supported the NLCA through a regular advert in the North Laine Runner for many years until he closed the shop. We thank him for this and wish him a long and happy retirement.
