Nocturnal noise nuisance

How to contribute to a survey

By Bruce Smith, North Laine resident

No doubt others have read in The Argus (6th August 2011) about the Sound Map being prepared by the Noise Abatement Society (NAS), a map which will show the noise trouble spots in the city.

Other trouble spots

The worst of these are of course already pretty well-known; and though we in the North Laine often complain about noise from passing revellers and others, we probably can't match West or St James's Street - indeed, who would want to?

You could contribute

However, this Map project seems to be an opportunity for those most affected by noise to contribute and get their street duly marked, if the NAS agrees with their opinion. The Argus has given the web address as: tinyurl.com/nasbrighton for those who want to complete a noise survey.  (Thus you can perhaps help demonstrate that we can have both Living Streets and 'a vibrant night-time economy', to use the fashionable cliche!)
